Hi and welcome to another exciting issue of VW Vibe
The VW lifestyle magazine; can you believe we’re on our third issue already?
We want to kick off by saying another massive thank you to everyone out there who have supported the mag so well and continue to give us great feedback.
And we’ve been busy meeting even more readers as the shows we’ve been attending and hearing about lots of great VW adventures and discovering some brilliant dubs out there along the way. The show season seems to have been flying past but we’ve still got a couple of months worth of great VW events before the season is done, so look forward to meeting lots more of our VW friends.
So we’ve got some real treats in store this issue; this month we’ve gone a bit more car heavy (but still have a trio of brilliant buses), with a bit of an old skool theme, including a stunning stock early Type 3 Fastback with a fascinating intercontinental backstory, and rescued from a scrapyard by a ‘non VW fan’ back in the 80’s, and the rest, as they say, is history! We also have a marvelous Manx Buggy based on a mega early 1947 chassis, as well as not one, but two Beetles; first up another rarity in the form of a 1952 Zwitter Bug, still used daily! Our other Beetle is a 1971 model wearing a modern Mexican shell and showing off its post upright headlights and square bumpers proudly, defying anyone to say it’s not every bit as pretty as any pre ’67… and looking at this minter, we’re hard pushed to disagree.
Anyway, did someone mention Mexico? Check out the Tailgate Gourmet as he takes one of their national dishes, the humble Nachos, and whips up some campsite cuisine to tempt your taste buds… and whilst tucking into that, other sensory delights come from rediscovering some more classic tunes to load up in the 8-track, as our resident A&R Man searches through the glovebox of his old T25 Autosleeper for some real gold from an artist, who like many a dub owner, prefers to chose his own path!
We also get our travelling trousers on again and look in on the shenanigans of Paul Holmes and the SSVC convoy to Hessich and a fine appreciation of vintage VWs plus a whole barrel of laughs. And from Europe to Asia, as we hop on board the Tigerbus once again for the next truly eye opening leg of Martin and Sarah’s amazing Asian adventure, this time they drive through Iran and Pakistan (via Azerbaijan) and then hit India… hold tight… issue three is here!
